Our Converted Barn, attached to our Gite, is set in a tranquil location amidst some of the most beautiful countryside of the region, yet only 6 minutes away from the town of Montpon-Ménestérol with supermarkets, butchers, bakers, restaurants and all local shops, and within easy reach of Bordeaux, Bergerac, Libourne, Saint Emilion, Castillon La Bataille, Sarlat, Les Eyzies and a lot more of the tourist attractions in the Dordogne.

Converted Barn
One double bedroom with king size bed, en-suite shower, basin and WC. One double room with double bed and en-suite shower, basin and WC. One double room with up to four single 3ft beds available (dependant on your booking numbers)
The kitchen is well equipped with AGA type cooker & oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster, cooking utensils and cutlery. 2 dining table seat 6 dinners each.
The grand lounge has 2 comfortable sofas, a television with satellite (UK) & terrestrial (FR), a DVD player and CD Hi-Fi.
The property is set in 7½ acres of grounds and private woodland that backs on to some vineyards. Families of deer have been known to take a walk in the back garden! The grounds are mainly grass and woodland and the property is private and gated. The Swimming Pool is alarmed for your children's safety and your peace of mind. There is a children's play area and a barbeque for you to enjoy.
A family bathroom is available on the ground floor which has sink, bath with shower attachment and a WC. En-suite to master bedroom with shower, basin and WC. En-suite to double room with shower, basin and WC.
Washing machine & sink.
Bed linen, bath and hand towels provided and included in price. Beach/pool towels are not provided.

Les Grandes Vignes is situated in the quiet and peaceful countryside near Montpon-Ménestérol in the Dordogne. A few minutes drive away in Soubie there is a very popular boulangerie and tea shop. The town of Montpon-Ménestérol is only a 6 min drive away where you will find supermarkets, restaurants and banks. There is a swimming lake, horse riding, canoeing and fishing, all can be reached within 10 mins.

Lac de Gurson (10 mins)
Lac de Gurson is a wonderful enclosed lake with sandy beaches, beach front bars & restaurants, a huge water chute, and a children's play area. The lake provides safe swimming and is perfect for children of all ages.
Castillon-La-Bataille (30 mins)
This historic town on the Dordogne is well worth a visit. Castillon La Bataille is famous for the hundred-year war which ended in 1453 when the French finally defeated the British. Every summer the people of Castillon La Bataille conduct a fantastic spectacular to commemorate the historic victory.
Saint Emilion (30 mins)
Saint Emilion is famous for it's red wine. There are free tours and guided tours of the vineyards. The town of Saint Emilion is fantastic and waiting to be explored.
Libourne (30 mins)
Libourne is just over half an hour's drive and has lovely shops and street markets.
Hautefort (1½ hrs)
To the north of the Périgord blanc, on the border of the Périgord noir and perched high on a rock is the castle Hautefort. This castle was once a medieval fortress and probably built on an original Roman encampment. One of the most prestigious chateaux in the south west of France, and classified as a historical monument, it is surrounded by a park and gardens of exceptional beauty designed à l'Anglaise.
Les Eyzies (1½ hrs)
Les Eyzies is one of the most frequently visited villages in France. This is the first site where Cro Magnon (ancestor of Homo Sapiens) was discovered. Many journey on the river, either by canoe or kayak start here.
La Roque Gageac (2 hrs)
La Roque Gageac is a beautiful riverside village, where the solid houses cling to the vertical bank of the valley of the river, with access up staircase streets.
Rocamadour (2 hrs)
In the Correze is one of the most gravity defying cliff clinging villages in this part of France. Many of the village buildings are built on the face of a vertical cliff. Rocamadour has a massive fort at the foot of the cliff, which once housed visiting pilgrims. There are wonderful views of the valley and the rooftops of Roacamadour from the summit of the cliff. (You can either climb the steps or take the lift).

Local airports include Bergerac (50km, 50mins), Bordeaux (77km, 60mins), Limoges (175km, 2½hrs), La Rochelle (204km, 2¼hrs), Toulouse (240km, 2¾hrs).
By Car
Les Grandes Vignes can be accessed from the Trans European Motorway, La Transeuropéenne (A89 or E70), and is approximately 20km from either exit 11 (west) or exit 12 (east).
By Ferry
From the UK, all northern France ferry terminals offer options. Check with your favoured operator.

To make a booking, please follow the online booking link below.
Confirmation & Deposit
After making a booking request you will receive an e-mail confirming it has been sent. This is later followed by an e-mail from us confirming your reservation, and containing a breakdown of the total costs, and the dates by which the deposit (£350) and final payments are due.
Arrival / Departure
During high season: Saturday arrivals after 4pm. Departure Saturdays by 10am.
